Notes
Mixing The Mask
Most DIY face mask recipe with Bentonite Clay and Apple Cider Vinegar call for a 1:1 ratio or even a 1:2 ratio in some cases. These ratio help to make the mask smooth and easier to apply. When I first discovered this easy to make recipe, I tried it with the 1:1 ratio. While it applied nice and evenly, it did however carry a strong aroma of ACV and tended to make eyes water. When we use our masks, we are looking for a soothing experience and this is not what I was getting. By including the addition of water, the mask was still easy to mix but much more bearable odor-wise and more pleasant to relax with.
To make your mask, make sure you shake your Apple Cider Vinegar, especially if its organic and has “mother” in it. If you choose not to dilute the Apple Cider Vinegar, then just use the 2 Tsps. of ACV instead.
Applying And Removing The Mask
Using a facial mask brush is the preferred way to apply a mask but you can absolutely apply it with your fingers if you don’t have one available. Using a brush helps to avoid any bacteria that might be on your hands getting transferred to your face. You may also find when applying with my fingers that product is lost.
To apply:
Using the face mask brush (or fingers), apply an even layer to your face and jawline taking care to not get too close to your eyes. It is best to start by first applying a thin layer to your face and then evening out with a second layer. Your finished mask should be about an 1/8″ thick layer when fully applied so its not super thin, but a more moderate application.
Allow the face mask to sit and do its work for about 10 minutes and then wash it off.
DO NOT LET IT FULLY DRY!
This is not a dry face mask – we have more recipes for dry face mask recipes in our blog recipes section. This mask is intended to help reduce and prevent acne and uses ingredients geared toward that end and is not intended to fully dry.
TIPS:
After washing off the face mask, moisturize with a CBD infused oil such as jojoba, grapeseed or hemp seed oil to replenish and lock in the moisture and continue the balancing of the oily skin while not clogging your pores and preventing bacteria from building back up in your pores.
This CBD infused face mask recipe for acne prone and oily skin can be used about 3 or 4 days in a row during the initial cleansing but once your skin begins to clear, 1-2 times a week is appropriate for maintenance and prevention. During the first week, you should use a moisturizer after to ensure your skin doesn’t overly dry out in the process.
It is best to apply the face mask after a shower or facial cleansing so you can avoid trapping and adding any additional bacteria and contaminants in your skin when using this recipe.
